Read Peace, Walk, Now: Chapter 5, Part 1

So far I’ve been narrating the events that occurred in 2017, leading me to leave Alaska and go on what I’ve called a “Peace Walk” to regain inner balance after a series of personally devastating events. What I haven’t shared is how I ended up in Alaska to begin with. This sort of thing doesn’t just accidentally happen to people.

Or maybe it does?

Or does it?

Moving to Alaska was not an accident for me. And I dare say—based on personal stories that have been shared with me—it’s not an accident for others either. Alaska has a way of calling people to her. Alaska is not like the rest of the United States, what Alaskans refer to as the lower 48. (Mind you, not counting Hawaii.)

Alaska is something else.

If Alaska requires your presence, it will be made known to you. If she has no interest in you, she won’t even make it on your radar. If Alaska really doesn’t want you around, she will find bold and direct ways to keep you out or boot you out, including severe weather, severed relationships, extreme mood swings, as well as other heedless, cost-prohibitive, and massively disruptive means.

But if Alaska summons you, I dare say… there’s no turning your back to her. The pull will only get stronger and the call will get louder and even literal. For example, someone with a (907) Alaska area code might start dialing you accidentally, or for no reason. No reason at all. (Moo-ha-ha-ha…)

And mind you, Alaska has no problem booting you out temporarily and summoning you back, fully prepared to replenish you upon your humble return.

More on this in “Chapter 6: When You Are Summoned.”

For now, let’s get back to what happened when I returned to Anchorage from Yoga-Boulder camp…
